The domain of Bachac incorporated in the twelfth century the Templar Commandery of Argenton.
Later, we know that the area was one of the hunting grounds of King Henry IV.
In the chapel nearby are buried the Lords of Bachac.
The present castle was founded around 1650. Antoine of Brocas, advisor to King Henry IV is at the origin. Its present appearance dates from the renovation work carried out between 1848 and 1852.
Auguste de Bastard of Estang (1792-1883)
was perhaps the most famous owner of this romantic house. Military career, we remember after all his business as a printer lithographer, including Peintures et Ornements des manuscrits, an unfinished collection of illuminations of the Middle Ages, which remains today an unparalleled masterpiece.
Bought 22 years ago, this romantic castle was completely renovated by the current owner. It is open for hire since 1998.
